Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your data when you use calcit.co.uk ("CalcIt", "we"), which third parties are involved, how cookie consent works, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Your calculator inputs
All calculations run in your browser. The figures you type into a calculator and the results are not sent to us or to anyone else, are not put into the page address, and are not stored. You do not need an account and we do not ask for your name or email address to use the site.

Cookies and consent
Google Analytics runs from your first visit and sets its cookies so we can count visits and see how pages are used. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interests (see below), and you can object at any time: choose Reject, or refuse it in Google's consent message, and analytics is switched off and its cookies deleted. Advertising cookies are set only if you accept them.
We ask for advertising consent through Google's consent tool (AdSense Privacy & messaging), a consent management platform certified by Google that follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) v2.2. Its message lists the purposes and the advertising partners involved, and lets you accept, reject, or choose purpose by purpose. Where Google's message is not shown to you (for example, if you are outside the regions it covers or it is blocked), our own banner asks instead, with Accept and Reject.
Until you accept, Google's tags run in Google Consent Mode with the three advertising consent types (ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation) set to "denied", so no advertising cookies are set or read. Analytics storage starts as "granted". If you reject, all four are set to "denied": Google's tags then set no cookies at all, but they still send Google cookieless signals, such as the page you viewed, the time, your browser and device type, and your IP address as part of the connection, so visits can be counted and non-personalised or limited ads can be shown.
If you accept, Google may also set and read advertising cookies. In Google's consent tool, advertising cookies need your consent to storing information on your device and to Google as an advertising partner, and personalised ads also need your consent to personalised advertising. If you refuse storing information on your device, refuse both measurement purposes (content and audience statistics), or object to Google as a partner, analytics is switched off too. The cookies include:
- Google Analytics:
_gaand_ga_<ID>, which distinguish visitors and sessions (up to 2 years). Set from your first visit unless you reject. - Google AdSense: advertising cookies such as
__gads,__gpiand__eoion calcit.co.uk, and cookies set by Google ad domains such as doubleclick.net (for exampleIDE). These are used to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and, where allowed, personalise them (up to 13 months).
Google's own list of the cookies it uses and what they do is at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
Google's consent tool records your choice in a cookie on calcit.co.uk (such as FCCDCF) so it does not ask on every page. Our own banner saves your choice in your browser's local storage under the key calcit_cookie_consent (not a cookie, and never sent to us). Storing your choice is strictly necessary and does not need consent.
Switching analytics off or withdrawing consent: use the Cookie settings link here or in the footer of any page. It reopens Google's consent message where that is in use, or our banner otherwise. If you reject, we set all four Google consent types to denied and delete the Google Analytics and AdSense cookies on calcit.co.uk that the browser lets us remove. Cookies on Google's own domains can be cleared in your browser settings. Clearing this site's data in your browser also resets your choice.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
CalcIt is free to use and is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense.
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.com.
- Other third-party ad vendors and ad networks certified by Google may also serve ads through AdSense and use cookies when you have consented. Google lists them at Ad technology providers.

Analytics
Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-2HQW72RZF7) tells us which pages are used, how people arrive and which devices they use. It runs from your first visit and sets its cookies unless you reject; after a reject it sends only cookieless signals as described above. We do not send Google any calculator inputs, names or email addresses.
Tianji is an open-source analytics tool that we host ourselves (track.quarryrogue.uk). It does not set cookies. It records the page viewed, the page title, the referring page, screen size, browser language and the hostname, and our server sees your IP address as part of the request. Because it uses no cookies or device storage to track you, it runs without asking for consent. We also use Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool that records aggregate page views only; it stores nothing on your device, shares nothing, and honours Do Not Track.
Other third parties
- Google Fonts loads the Geist and Geist Mono typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google receives your IP address and browser details when the fonts are requested. No cookies are set.
- Pexels hosts the photos on some guide pages (images.pexels.com), so Pexels receives your IP address and browser details when those images load.
Our lawful basis
We rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for Google Analytics measurement: counting visits and seeing how the calculators are used so we can fix and improve them. You have the right to object, and the Reject button or Cookie settings link does that straight away. We rely on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and PECR regulation 6) for AdSense cookies and personalised ads. We also rely on legitimate interests for cookieless statistics, non-personalised ads that fund the site, delivering fonts and images, and keeping the site secure.
Data we hold
We do not run a database of visitors and we do not sell personal data. Our web server and Tianji keep technical logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for security and statistics. If you email us, we keep your message and email address only as long as needed to reply.
International transfers
Google and Pexels may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they are responsible for using a lawful transfer mechanism, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. Tianji runs on our own servers.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask whether we process your personal data and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct or erase personal data
- Object to or restrict processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent at any time, using Cookie settings as described above
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
For data held by Google, you can also use Google's own tools at myaccount.google.com.
Children
CalcIt is a general-purpose financial calculator site aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

If the services the site loads change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
